Jonathan's ongoing reporting of MMIWR issues for the Albuquerque Independent newspaper, The Paper, has received national attention having won a 2023 National Press Women Award for First Place (National) for In-Depth Reporting on the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives crisis in New Mexico. This reporting was also made possible through a grant awarded by the International Women's Media Foundation.
